Meet Delilah
Meet Delilah!! She's the last of her litter and patiently waiting for the family God is planning for her. Will that be you?
With a guesstimated birthday in Jan. 2021, Delilah weighs about 45 lb.
Delilah is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule. She's comfy in a 42" crate and will sleep peacefully all night, especially if she has a firm dog bed :) Until then she wants to be where her people are.
Delilah enjoys going on adventures with her people. She is good with most dogs - growly dogs are seen as disrespectful so not favorites - and will vocalize with happy growls when playing. Her rescuer kept her in a yard with several other dogs and didn't realize they were packing up on her. When she arrived in foster care at a year old, she had some symptoms of PTSD toward dogs similar to the ones in her rescuer's yard (primarily Australian Shepherds). She will now trust her handler shoo away strange dogs rather than believe she has to protect herself.
Delilah does well with the housecats in her foster home, but will chase if they'll run. She enjoys playing with them and is as gentle as she can be.
Delilah stayed with a family while her foster mom was out of town and they wrote: "This sweet girl will love going on long walks with you & behaves well on a leash without pulling, however, she won't pass up the opportunity to chase a rabbit or squirrel. She is leery of unknown dogs. When she's on the greenway with her foster and they encounter an oncoming dog, they just step to the side and Delilah politely lets them pass. She's very good indoors, never makes a mess, & understands the command "go" to leave the kitchen so she's not under foot."
Delilah was found as a puppy, scrounging for food. Then she was kept as a yard dog at her rescuer's. At her foster home, she loves being an indoor companion. She appreciates being able to lounge on the couch and receive pets whenever she asks. She understands crating at bedtime, but would be in heaven if allowed to sleep with her own family.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.
For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, and deworming if recommended by our vet. Adult dogs will also have current heartworm test. For puppies over the age of 14 weeks, our adoption fee covers the first 3 puppy vaccines. If the puppy is still in our care at 16 weeks, we will also provide the rabies vaccine.
A vet reference is required only if you are adopting an intact dog over 6 months of age (or the age our attending veterinarian recommends for spay/neuter) to ensure future altering of the dog. A refundable spay/neuter deposit is required for intact dogs/puppies.
Open Adoption Events for Foster Dogs are held on most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Open Adoption Events for Bunch Anderson Shelter Dogs are held every Saturday from noon-4:00 p.m. Please check our FB page for changes in Adoption Event Schedules.
A scheduled Meet & Greet between Adoption Events may be possible by sending an e-mail to: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We do not hold dogs. Fees are required in cash at Tractor Supply.
