Dax is a timid little guy who arrived in rescue at about 6 months of age. He had already been in two different homes. Unfortunately, both homes had children who were abusive to him. In the first home the parents allowed the children to play with the puppy as if he were nothing but a stuffed toy. The children were very rough with him. He then went on to a home with an older child, even though 12 years old, he purposely tormented this little guy. The mother brought him to us saying she was afraid her son was going to kill the pup. I have no idea what was done to him, but he was very traumatized. Dax cannot go into a home with children. He needs a quiet adult home where he no longer needs to fear for his safety. Dax is a Chihuahua and Dachshund mix. He is two years old and weighs 8 pounds. Dax needs a little time to make up to new people, but once he trusts you, he is an absolute love. He is more comfortable with women, mainly because it is mostly women who work at our rescue. He gets along with most other dogs his size. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, and crate trained. He will use potty pads. Anyone interested in Dax needs to own their home and have a secure fenced area for him to go outside to go potty. Due to his size, he should never be left outside unattended.
