Meet Dashi
Meet Dashi, a handsome senior land seal!
At age 11, Dashi should have been living out his golden years with dignity. Instead he was abandoned in a backyard on Long Island in horrible shape: emaciated, half bald, open wounds on his body and painfully infected eyes and ears. Since that time, he has made major improvements. He has put on weight and most of his fur has grown back. He still has several medical issues that are being investigated, such as multiple lumps on his body, a heart murmur, and chronic dry eyes. He is also completely deaf. Pending an echocardiogram, we hope he will be cleared for his neuter surgery.
Despite all he’s been through, Dashi remains a sweet and loving boy. Don’t let his age fool you - this grandpa is still pretty lively! He loves to play with toys and enjoys long walks. He loves other dogs and is happier and calmer when he has a dog buddy. He has been introduced to various cats and doesn't seem to care about their presence.
Dashi may not have all the shine and polish of his younger compatriots, but he has every bit as much love to give... maybe more! We would love to find Dashi a caring home where he can live out his remaining years with all the affection and care he lacked at the start of his life.
