Name: Darling  Breed: Beagle mix Â
Approximate Age:Â 2-3 years
Approximate Weight: Â 21Â lbs
Currently Living at:Â DC area foster home!!Â
Meet Darling, she is a gorgeous, petite little beagle who showed up at a high-kill shelter very pregnant with nowhere to go to have her babies!  Lovely Darling is about 2-3 years old and weighing in at about 21 lbs, is the perfect size for an apartment, condo or house. This poor little girl had a collar and tags on when she showed up at the shelter, but when the shelter called her owner, he said he didn't care that she was there and he didn't want her back. :-(  So the poor girl was left with nowhere else to go and no safe, warm place to have her puppies!  She was very scared with all the changes going on in her life, understandably, and didn't understand why she was abandoned all of a sudden. Â
Thankfully, one of our boarding partners was able to board poor Darling so she could give birth in a safe place, so we were able to get her out of the shelter.  She gave birth to 3 adorable puppies and was a great mom to them.  All the puppies have been adopted, but poor Darling is still waiting!  She's ready to be doted on by a new family of her own!!
Darling is a shy girl, so she would do best in a home with another dog to give her some confidence!  She just loooooves her 2 foster brothers and is happiest when she's following them around or playing with them.  Darling has so much love to give; she’d make a great walking buddy, would love lots of visits to the dog park, so she can romp around with some canine pals; and maybe a good game of fetch!  At the end of the day, she would love some snuggling on the couch, watching TV and getting belly rubs. :-) We are not sure how she is with cats but we can test her with cats if you have a kitty at home.  Â
Darling is hoping some special person or family will adopt her very soon and give her the loving home she deserves. She is waiting hopefully and anxiously to find a home of her own!  Darling would love to be your companion or part of your family; you won’t regret opening your home to this sweet girl.  Lucky Dog wants to help Darling find a home; please consider adopting or sponsoring her today!Â
If you can help Darling by adopting or sponsoring her, please email Sheila at sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org ASAP! Â
Like most shelter dogs, Darling may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.Â
The adoption fee for this dog is $300, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sheila at sheilam@luckydoganimalrescue.org.
