Darcy's foster has fostered many setters for OESR. While all have been sweet, Darcy is the sweetest and best behaved foster that her foster mom has hosted.

Darcy is special needs medical and does require a specific environment for her to thrive. PLEASE READ!

It is suspected that Darcy has chronic bronchitis. She is responding well to medication and additional testing and anesthesia could pose a risk to her lungs and health. At this time and with her positive response to treatment, Darcy's veterinary team does not feel that proceeding with a bronchoscopy is necessary.

Darcy must go to a smoke free home. She will not tolerate cigarette smoke, wood burning stoves or fireplaces, or fire pits.

Darcy does have separation anxiety and loves to be with her people! Being left alone does cause stress and Darcy will whine and bark at first. Because this works her up, it is not ideal for her chronic bronchitis. She would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. She would also do well as a travel or errands companion, when possible. Darcy can be left alone and it is understood that it is impossible to never leave a dog by itself. Darcy will not be happy in a home where she is left alone for a full working day.

Darcy prefers not to be crated. She will use a crate, but it is not her favorite place and she can be restless. She is house trained and her foster mom trusts her to let her know when she needs to go potty.

Darcy does enjoy walks. She will do best with a harness that will not cause coughing. She does walk well on a leash and is not a hard puller.

Darcy does need a fenced yard that she can roam and explore without being on a leash. She will do well with a physical fence OR an e fence.

Darcy needs a cat free home. She has a high prey drive and does stalk her foster mom's cat. She is not a candidate to reside with a cat.

Darcy enjoys other dogs in the home, but she can take or leave the companionship of other dogs. She will be just fine as an only dog.

Darcy loves toys! Her favorite toys are chew toys including Kongs, Nylabones, and Oravet chews. She also enjoys freeze dried treats and any pumpkin flavored snacks are deemed particularly yummy!!

Darcy loves to lounge on the couch and sleep in bed with her humans. Once she settles into her new environment and routine, she will love to be in a home with couch and bed privileges.

Darcy adores the child in her foster home. They have quite the bond. While proper introductions and supervision are always needed, Darcy has demonstrated that she is a very kid friendly girl.

Darcy knows several commands, including sit, lay down, stay, shake, kennel up, and heel. She is conditioned to an e collar.

Darcy requires butt scratches.

Darcy will be on medication for the rest of her life. She will need a home with people who are comfortable or willing to learn how to administer her meds.

Darcy will not be a candidate for dog parks, doggie day care, or boarding facilities. She should avoid environments with many dogs and unknown vaccine histories, as this could compromise Darcy's health. With proper planning, Darcy could be a wonderful travel companion and accompany her family on vacations. If this is not possible, a pet sitter in the home is advisable.

What is the cutest or funniest thing your foster dog does? While Darcy does not need children in her new home, the bond that she has established with her tiny companion has endeared her to her foster family. She loves to observe her tiny human and looks for her. She observes human play time and coloring book sessions.

Darcy can live a very normal and long life with medical management. Her restrictions and special needs are to protect her respiratory system. Please research chronic bronchitis in dogs to learn more,
