Meet Dale

Meet Dale! Dale is a 3-year-old wolf hybrid. There is no denying he carries wolf DNA. How much is unknown. No DNA test has been performed. Dale was found abandoned at a veterinary clinic tied to a post overnight. Their local animal shelter was called, and since wolf hybrids are not legal in that county, an urgent rescue plea was put in place. He was set to be euthanized ASAP. I was asked to evaluate since he was very stressed and reactive in the shelter. During the evaluation, he was removed from the shelter environment, and while still very unsure, stressed, and anxious, he seemed to appreciate the time out of the shelter environment. It did not take long for him to trust me and accept my leadership.

Dale gets along well with all dogs, big and small, of all ages. A home with another playful dog or 3 is best. Dale is submissive and needs a confident, balanced dog to follow. Dale has been through basic obedience training, his potential is unlimited. But continuing training is a must. Dale is smart, and he's eager to please. A bit bull-headed, yes, and very stubborn, still very puppy, but in the end, he is still a dog who is willing to please his people. Dale rides excellently in the car; he meets people well and dogs too. He's been around cats, and while curious, he tries to play, but he does not bother them. Smart dog! He's also been around rabbits, our farm bird flock, turtles, goats, and larger farm animals with 0 issues. Dale can easily jump an 8 ft fence but does well not jumping our 3ft fence as long as he has a playful dog accompanying him. A fence is required. No exceptions. But open to discussion.

Because Dale is a wolf-dog, many states, counties, and cities do require an accommodation to maintain his housing/ownership. You must check with your city county ordinance/regulation, and animal control. We also require you to be knowledgeable of the law, ordinance, and their required care. We require continued training as well. Proof will be required to maintain compliance with ownership /adoption.

Owning any pet is a huge responsibility. Owning a Hybrid of any variety makes it that much more of a bigger responsibility. I prefer an experienced adopter, at the very least, a current pet owner who's thoroughly researched what it entails to possesshybridss. Do your homework, always. Be committed and dedicated when doing research.

Study the breed, what to expect, and your city/ county ordinance, speak to your veterinarian (not all are comfortable or open to handling a hybrid), an experienced trainer with actual hands-on experience (positive reinforcement), and a training plan to set in motion from day 1.

I understand he is an attractive, desirable, cool-looking dog, but there is more to him than looks and a desired status symbol. It takes everyday dedication and tremendous daily devotion of time, money, and efforts, hands-on, mental, and physical work to keep them safe, happy, pleased, and balanced.

We have our ducks in a row and I expect anyone interested in adopting Dale will do so too. He is a dog but he is also a high-content wolf combination dog.

Unless you're going to commit to a lifetime of effort requiring hands-on DAILY EXERCISE and work. PLEASE consider ADOPTing a dog that's best compatible with your current capabilities and lifestyle. Looks should never be the only factor when adding a family pet/member to the home.

I'm not pursuing a miracle home, I'm searching for a committed, responsible, healthy, loving, preferably experienced forever home. Please do your research before applying. This is your responsibility to do so.

Dale is house and crate-trained and walks great on and off-leash. His recall is selective. With me, it's excellent, but any other human, not his person, is questionable. Dale is up to date on 1 or 3 years of all age-appropriate core vaccines including lepto, and corona, as well as the rabies vaccine, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped with free lifetime registration, and unlimited updated info ability at no additional fee, spay/neutered, heartworm lyme tested negative within 6 -12 months and current on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention year round.

Dale is still available for adoption. But I am in no rush to place him or any dog. It must be a good fit. My expectations are definite, and I'm not compromising their needs, much less their safety. However, I am always willing to discuss individual requests.

Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship, and a minimum of 2 meet and greet is required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Adoption fees are paid only upon adoption. Do not send any money. Anyone asking you, too, is not part of our organization.

Previous AHR adopters have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again. However, a donation of their choice is expected welcomed and appreciated.

Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a purity setting them up for success.

Adoption process information and adoption application can be found on our website AdoptAHRescue.org or email us at animalhrs@gmail.com
