Meet Cupcake

Cupcake: The Resilient Puppy Who Beat the Odds—Now She Just Needs You

Cupcake has faced more in her short life than any puppy should. She was abandoned, injured, and left with a broken leg. If we hadn’t stepped in, she would have been euthanized before ever getting the chance to know what it means to be loved.

But Cupcake is a fighter—and more than that, she is pure joy wrapped in fur. Despite everything, she radiates sweetness, curiosity, and love. She doesn’t dwell on the past; she is simply waiting for someone to give her the future she deserves.

What Makes Cupcake Special?

• Perfect Medium Size – At just under 40 lbs at 9 months old, Cupcake is in that ideal middle range—not too big, not too small. She will likely stay under 45 lbs full-grown, making her a great fit for a variety of homes.

• Incredible with Other Dogs – Cupcake loves other dogs and currently lives with small dogs, including one who is downright rude to her—yet she never retaliates. She is eager to play, always ready to make a new friend.

• Sweet, Innocent, and Full of Heart – Cupcake doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She thrives on love, playtime, and quality time with her people. She is gentle, pure-hearted, and completely devoted to those she trusts.

• Food-Motivated & Easy to Train – She loves food, which makes training a breeze. Whether you want to teach her fun tricks or work on manners, Cupcake will happily learn. Her food drive also makes it easy to redirect any excitement—just grab a treat, and problem solved!

• A Loyal Companion in the Making – Cupcake may be a little shy at first, but once she bonds with you, that bond is unbreakable. She is ready to be someone’s best friend for life.

• Crate Trained & Comfortable Being Left Alone – Cupcake does great in her crate and is content being left alone, making her a great fit for adopters who work.

Why Hasn’t Cupcake Been Adopted?

Cupcake’s life nearly ended before it even began. She was abandoned with a broken leg, facing euthanasia before she ever had the chance to be someone’s dog. But thanks to her resilience and the care she received, she is fully healed, healthy, and just like any other puppy—playful, happy, and full of life.

She has done everything right. She has healed, learned, and waited. All she needs now is someone to choose her.

Could that person be you?

Apply to adopt Cupcake today and give this incredible survivor the forever home she’s been waiting for.

*Thank You for Considering Adoption with Foster Tales!*

At Foster Tales, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’ve proudly placed over 250 dogs into loving, forever homes in the past two years. Based in Bakersfield, California, we specialize in rescuing dogs from the Central Valley’s highest-kill shelters, where prospects for adoption are nearly nonexistent. With grim realities for dogs in our area, we go above and beyond to find them homes in Northern California and beyond, even out of state. That’s why you’ll see the “out-of-town” label on many of our Petfinder profiles.

*Adopting from Foster Tales is Simple and Impactful*

We know traveling to Bakersfield isn’t always feasible, so we’ve designed an adoption process that works for you. It all starts with a virtual meet and greet, where you can see the dog in their foster home—an environment where they are comfortable and able to show their true personality. These virtual meetings are incredibly informative and help you get a real sense of the dog you’re interested in.

Once you’ve found a connection, we guide you through an educational and respectful adoption process. We’re here to celebrate your decision to adopt, not scrutinize it! Afterward, we’ll arrange for a convenient transport location for you to meet the dog in person. (Transport may include additional fees depending on location.) You’ll always have the chance to meet your potential new companion before finalizing your decision—adopting virtually isn’t required.

*Adopting Saves Lives*

When you adopt from Foster Tales, you’re not just changing the life of the dog you’re bringing home—you’re saving more lives. Each adoption creates space for us to rescue another dog, keeping our mission moving forward. Adopters are the heart of our rescue work, making everything we do possible.

*What Sets Us Apart?*

At Foster Tales, we’re proud to offer something many rescues don’t: adoption counseling with a certified dog trainer. This personalized session helps you prepare for life with your new companion, ensuring a smoother transition and setting everyone up for success. And we don’t stop there—we provide post-adoption support to help you navigate any challenges, making us an excellent choice for first-time dog owners or anyone looking for a supportive rescue experience.

Your decision to adopt doesn’t just change one life—it creates ripples of hope for many more. Thank you for being part of this life-saving mission!
