GOOD IN A HOME WITH
Dogs, Older Children

Creek is a handsome young Black Tri Australian Shepherd with long legs, four white paws, and the most adorable freckles on his nose. He was picked up as a stray in Southwest VA, with a stick embedded in his neck/throat area. Luckily the Vet safely removed it and there was no permanent damage, but he will have a scar.
This boy has a nice off-switch with proper exercise and mental stimulation. He enjoys working puzzles for treats and will snuggle on the couch or happily sleep in his dog bed while you watch TV.
Creek is great with other dogs; he plays rough so he may be too much for an older or smaller dogs. He has not been cat-tested. He enjoys running, jumping, and bouncing around, so a fenced yard is highly suggested. He likes being brushed and doesn't mind his feet, ears, or mouth being handled. He loves a good grass bath..
Creek plays fetch and is learning to bring the ball back. He loves to run around with a Jolly Pets Romp-n-Roll Dog Toy in his mouth and enjoys a good game of chase and tug-a-war. Creek shares toys and balls with the other dogs. Being a typical Aussie, he growls when he plays, it is a characteristic of the breed.
He is food-motivated, he loves his kibble, frozen green beans, canned pumpkin, and all dog treats. Creek knows the basic commands (sit, down, stay) but needs work on his leash manners, he is house-trained and crate-trained. He really doesn't know his name, but he will normally come when called if he can see you. He learned to use the doggy door the first few days he was here.
He is comfortable in the car; he jumps right in and lays down; he is tethered to the headrest using an attachment that clips onto his harness. He doesn't dig in the yard, but he has a "Stranger Danger reaction when a car pulls in. He calms down quickly and is all wiggles and kisses with a proper introduction.
Creek is a svelte pup weighing in at 30lb. He could use some weight and muscling, which should be easy with his activity level. He would make a good sport dog, agility, barn hunt, or fast cat contender. He is estimated to be a little under 1 year old, current on all vaccinations, and heartworm and flea tick preventative. He will be neutered on Oct 9th and ready for adoption about 10 days later.
His perfect home would be an adopter with Aussie experience, living in a single-family home with a large, fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood. He would benefit from another dog in the household. Children should be over 12 yrs. old.
