Meet Cowboy
If interested, please contact the foster home. Petfinder Profiles doesn’t always work.
Cowboy is a 10 year old boy who was dearly loved by his person. When she passed away, he was inconsolable. He stationed himself in the yard waiting for her return. He waited days and then weeks. The neighbors fed him and tried to bring him to their house. He wouldn’t stay. He wanted to go home and wait for his mom.
When ACDRA was contacted, we worked fast to get him to a vet to treat him for the fleas and ants he had attracted during his time waiting in the yard. He was thoroughly checked out and given meds for his age-related rear end stiffness. Thanks to the meds, he is quite limber and routinely turns his “walks” into “runs”!
Cowboy is living with 5 other dogs and does great with them. Our dream, however, would be for him to be the only dog because of how much he craves affection. He has a few behaviors that are typical of the breed. He will herd you along if you’re not moving fast enough. And he loves to chomp on hands and arms when he is excited. For this reason, he is not a good candidate for a home with young children.
Cowboy’s hears but can’t always tell where sounds are coming from. Cowboy enjoys exploring our fenced yard. He weighs 40 lbs., is in good health, up to date on shots and preventatives, and loves the occasional toy and bone. He is house trained and walks well on leash. He has been allowed on furniture in foster care.
He is being fostered in Langhorne, PA, about 40 minutes north of Philadelphia.
