Name: Copper
Nicknames: Copter, Copper Pot, Big Boi
Age: 3yrs
Weight 60-65lbs
Likes: Food....my food bowl....nylabones & benebones....toys....all the toys!!!
Dislikes: Not a huge fan of the snow yet
Housetrained & crate trained (stays in a plastic crate) - cannot have bedding in his kennel as he tears it up and does eat it. Occasionally barks in his crate but not excessively.
Dogs: Copper would do best in a home as the only dog.
Cats: Copper would do best in a home without cats.
Children: Copper would do best in a home with children 10 and up.
Additional info from his foster:
Copper is a very strong dog and seems as though he has had minimal handling or structure in his life. He gets easily overly stimulated with handling from his people which causes to become very forceful and jumpy with his actions. Copper is working on learning to maintain his composure through practicing relaxed behaviors and receiving calm attention from people. He is a dog who will need a physically strong person as he often acts like a bull in a china shop and is very unaware of his strength and size. Due to Copper’s exuberance for life it would be best that he live with only older children or adults. Copper’s foster mom is working with him on learning commands as it appears he knows very little as well as working on his trust with toys as once he has anything he does not want to give it up. It would be best for Copper to have slow introductions with other dogs as he tends to be rude and a bit clumsy when meeting other dogs. He will need an owner that is prepared to provide him with structure, discipline, boundaries (ie a lot of training). If you are not willing to attend more than one 8 week obedience course and possibly some private lessons, Copper is not the dog for you.
