Name: Clyde
Nicknames: Clyde-O
Adoption Fee: $0.00
Age or Date of Birth: Approximately 9 Months Old
Activity Level: I’m a good mixture of let’s play and let’s cuddle.
Things I do in my free time: I love playing out in the yard. If you have a ball to throw or a toy to tug, I’m your man!
Things I know: My name, Sit, Down.
Things I am learning/currently working on: Place and Boop (boop is like “touch”. My foster mom holds out her hand and says “boop”. I touch my nose to her hand and get a treat. It’s great!)
Who I currently live with (humans and animals): 1 adult human, 3 dogs (2 male, 1 female), and a couple cats.
How I do with kids: Kids make me really nervous. I don’t like the little ones since they’re unpredictable, loud, and tend to move fast. I would prefer a home without kids and if my new adopters ever introduce me to kids they know, it’s best the kids are older and can give me space/time to warm up. If the kids are younger, I’d rather hang out in my kennel.
How I do with dogs: I love dogs.
How I do with cats: Though I live in a home with cats, I have never met/interacted with them. Since I’m too intrigued by small critters (rabbits, squirrels), foster mom thinks it’s best if cats are not part of my equation.
My current size: I am a medium sized dog, about 45 lbs. I will probably grow a little more and end up around 55-60 lbs.
How I do in my kennel: I do great in my kennel. I sleep throughout the night and don’t have any accidents. I will bark on rare occasions.
How I do in car rides: I ride in my kennel and do fine. You can tell I don’t love it, but we can get from point A to point B successfully.
Am I house trained?: Yes.
Additional Info from foster: Clyde came to Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue when he was about 4 months old. He was extremely timid meeting new people and experiencing new things. Though he’s still learning to open up, he’s come a long way in a short amount of time. This guy is smart and expressive (his eyebrows are constantly moving). He picks up on training quickly and is food motivated. He aims to please which makes training rewarding. Clyde will benefit from an adopter who understands dog body language. You can read him easily just by watching his facial expressions. He will need to continue working one on one with his new family to continue his growing of confidence. If you’re looking for a social dog that you can bring anywhere/do anything with, Clyde is not the dog for you. If you’re looking to build a rewarding relationship with your new companion, that’s exactly what we’re looking for. Clyde is a goof and a ton of fun, but it will take him 2-3 weeks just to start coming out of his shell. From there on, the sky is the limit for this doggo.
