Meet Cleo

Ear worm alert! Adoptable Cleo is the poster child for “I’m So Excited” by the Pointer Sisters. This 5-month-old Cattle Dog mix is as jazzed about life as she is adorable. Currently 25# of playful, friendly fun, and ready to find an amazing forever home.

Curious and sweet with a little sass thrown in (because, Cattle Dog!), Cleo is ready for a job as a professional toy tester. She wants to play with ALL the toys everywhere! She will do anything for a bully stick and loves food in general (can you say “easy to train?”). She loves the outdoors, soaking up rays and chasing after a ball or toy followed by a cozy nap in the grass or on a cushy dog bed.

Families that like to check out new places with their pups along for the ride are right up Cleo’s alley. She’s ready to visit neighborhood parks, the lake and friends’ homes, or jump in the car for a road trip to see Grandma. Obedience classes and solid ongoing socialization are the name of the game for this smarty pants – not only is she ready to learn, she wants to keep her brain busy. A routine of daily exercise will ensure she stays physically healthy as well.

Cleo would love a fenced yard and another friendly canine to play with. She reads other dogs well, respecting their space when requested. Homes with older kids are fine; kids 10 and under should have experience with herding breeds and know how to handle puppy teething behaviors. We are told she did well with cats in her original home. She needs potty breaks every few hours at her young age.

Cleo is learning all the things puppies get to master. Housetraining is coming along nicely. She is happy in her crate for short periods and sleeps quietly in it through the night. Loves going for walks on leash, though she is a little zig zaggy at this stage - she's a puppy!

Her foster mom says: “Cleo is all puppy: happy to explore, loving and awkward and funny all at once. She’s a bright light with silly antics that keep us laughing. She’ll make an amazing canine companion!”

Please read up on Australian Cattle Dogs before applying to adopt Cleo. They are amazing companions in the right homes.

APPLY TO ADOPT Cleo at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt

Cleo is being fostered in St. Paul, MN. Her sister Darla is also available for adoption: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/darla-72921657/mn/st-paul/heart-of-a-border-collie-rescue-mn432/

As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Cleo's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. She is microchipped, heartworm negative and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. She will be spayed by the rescue at the age of 6 months at one of the vet clinics we work with. The cost of this procedure is included in her adoption fee.
