Meet Cinder
Cinder is a little over 2 years old and about 60 pounds. Most likely a mix of multiple breeds but resembles a lab/shepherd mix by appearance.
Cinder was handed a rough start at life which he will definitely use to exploit your weaknesses. He was found wandering alone on a reservation by himself pretty beat up with a bit of an attitude for such a young pup. After several months of regular meals, lots of treats, being showered with love and affection and never having to be afraid again, he's now a spoiled brat with small God complex. He would be best in a home where he is the only dog or with another dog that can hold their ground. Cinder likes, no- LOVES to bully more submissive dogs. It's game for him. His favorite past time is "I'm not paying attention to you then jump on you like a hungry mountain lion". He's all about the shock and awe then he races off doing his best Batman disappearing impression. His other great passion is food. He steals it from other dogs. He steals it out of your hands, off your plate, from your mouth, off the counters. Wherever and whenever there is an opportunity, Cinder will steal food. Consequences, be damned. He is fed in his crate to avoid any situations where he feels the need to guard his food. He usually has the bowl finished before you have a chance to set it on the floor. He also gets a treat when he goes into his crate and will patiently wait while you prove to him the existence of the treat and toss it into the crate before heading in himself because his foster momma did not raise a fool.
He has been so far keeping his promise to go bathroom outside. Keeping him on a schedule is recommended. He has not been living with kids or cats and we do NOT recommend he lives with young kids or cats. Cinder likes to jump up a lot and just be a loose cannon. One of his "Cinder Specials" is to wait until his foster mom is in the process of bending down and jump right into her face to "boop noses".
Cinder needs to be crated when left alone or to give you a break. He's a crafty fella so it needs to be a secure crate. If left unsupervised, Cinder will rob you blind then gaslight you.
Cinder has asked me to update his profile to add he's not jumping up, but rather giving you a hug which he is an excellent hugger. He also is a passionate kisser and will smother your face in dog tongue any time you bend down or your face is in a close proximity to his. So if you bend down to grab something off the floor, Cinder sees this as an opportunity to wet your face.
Cinder is looking for a family who can provide strong leadership, has lots of patience, has experience training a high energy dog, has patience, is willing to take classes, work with him on obedience training to help him be the best dog he can be, has more patience, and has a healthy sense of humor because you're going to need it.
Cinder IS the life of the party, sunshine on a cloudy day, and our constant reminder to not take life seriously. He will definitely make you ask "Why?" a lot but you'll always have a funny story to tell. Cinder is a good boy and deserves a home and family of his own. He's been without one his whole life.
Adoption fee is $200 + tax (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home.
Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
