Christian (ID 44839/3684) German Shepherd Dog Mix Manassas, VA

What an impressive animal!! At just 3 years old he's a beautiful neutered male. Christian is really quite stunning, and his breed mix is equally stunning. His previous owner did a DNA test, and we have the results. (we’ll circle back to that, don’t worry!)

There is a lot to love about Christian. Number one, his physical appearance. He is a solid 93lbs and a stunning blue grey with a darker grey down the center of his back. Number two, his eagerness to please and willingness to respond to basic commands. Number three, he is house trained, and crate trained. Number four, he previously lived with a cat and LOVED his feline friend.
Christian’s previous owner has so many wonderful things to say about him. For example, he is good with smaller dogs, he is cuddly, loving, protective, playful, and active. He loves squeaky toys, rope toys and peanut butter treats (we can assure you that he also loves most treats!) We’ve also learned some things about Christian. He loves to play and splash in water, and he is pretty easy to walk on leash. The walking on leash part is significant considering he weighs as much as many of our dog walkers. Christian has been spending time in the volunteer room, and he is enjoying it very much. He loves to play with toys and does a cute little “I’ve got you!” hop each time he approaches his toy. He is also one of those dogs who likes to pick up a toy and greet his person with it when they return. As for using a dog bed – he is convinced that only his back end will fit on the bed (even though it is plenty big) He likes to look out the window and when he stands on his hind legs, he is TALL!! Christian can be whiney at times when his person or somebody that he really likes leaves the room, but he settles fairly quickly and just goes back to his nap or toy.
Now for the part everybody has been waiting for. What is Christian’s REAL breed mix? Here are the results with his breed mixes listed from most to least:
1. German Shepherd

3. Staffordshire Terrier
4. Pit Bull Terrier
5. Boerboel
6. Mastiff (but just 1%)
Christian does share key traits with a few of his ancestors. Aside from his size (German Shepherd, Boerboel, Mastiff) and his color (Staffordshire Terrier, Pit Bull Terrier), Christian does have the protective gene (German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Boerboel, Mastiff) and can be cautious/suspicious of strangers. All in all, Christian is a fun, intelligent, engaging dog who is nice to be around and pretty cool to have by your side.
