Meet Chip
Poor Chip was found as stray and waited for his family to come claim him. When no one came and he ended up on the dreaded euthanasia list CCHS stepped in to take him into their program.
Chip was in pretty bad shape when he was found. Poor guy was extremely emaciated, and is also heartworm positive.  His nails were so long that they were starting to curl under. :(
Sweet Chip has been gaining weight, but needs to gain a few more pounds before he is able to undergo heartworm treament and be neutered. Â
Chip is about as sweet as they come! He has those beautiful eyeliner eyes and loves to follow his foster mommy around the house.  He does great with other dogs and kiddos, and would make a great addition to someone's family.
We will keep you posted on his progress, and update his profile.
UPDATE: Poor Chip has had a hard time putting on weight, and is only at 38 pounds, but after some dietary changes and a special supplement we believe Chip is finally on the path to gaining some weight. We have begun a slow kill process for the HW but still need to wait til he gains some additional weight to complete the HW treatment and be neutered. He has the sweetest soul, and is such a gentle boy who only wants to be petted and loved on. We will continue to keep you updated on his progress.

UPDATE: Chip has tested negative for pancreatic insufficiency, and is up to 42 pounds!!! The vet believes his issues may lie with his positive hw status or he may have a malabsorption issue, which just means he will never be a robust doggie. Now that he has gained some weight, he is scheduled for his HW treatment at the beginning of February, and then will undergo his neuter once he has healed from the treatment. Continue to send prayers for this sweet, gentle boy!
UPDATE: Chip has had his first round of HW treatment and is doing great. He is also up to 45 pounds, and is right at his ideal weight! He has one more round of HW treatment and neuter and this sweet boy will be ready for his furever home.
Update: Chip has sailed through his second HW treatment, and is scheduled for his neuter next week, so he is ready for his furever home!  He is up to 48 pounds, and is doing wonderful! His personality is starting to really come out now that he has gained weight and is feeling better. We are working on getting some new photos of the chunky monkey for everyone to see how well he is doing. He does the basset 500 when it is time for his dinner and will bark to make sure you know it is time! His foster fursiblings are pretty old and don't care much for playing with a youngster, but believe Chip would love to have another doggie to play with in his new home.Â
UPDATE: We updated Chip's photos to show you the progress he has made. His neuter was successful, and he is doing great.  We believe he is going to do best staying on the grain free diet combined with enzymes, and as you can see he is doing great. He even has his neck rolls to prove it!Â
Chip is 4 years old and weighs 48lbs.Â
