Chichi’s rescue story began in March when an injured dog was posted on a local Meridian, MS lost and found pets page. At that time it was noted someone had clearly attempted UNSUCCESSFULLY to cut off her tail, breaking it and leaving it badly mangled. Sadly, this wasn’t the end of her suffering. She wasn’t taken into the finder’s home…nor was she rushed to a vet for the medical care she needed.
Instead, she was found again, five weeks later, several miles away from the original finder’s location. Now she was very sick and in a great amount of pain, seeking refuge under the porch of a kind family who couldn’t let her stay there alone, unattended and suffering. She was ill with pneumonia, maggots covered her mangled, infected tail and now a bullet hole in her side added to her collection of undeserved hardships. Sadly for chichi, her journey seeking merciful human help was long and was not a quick, easy one. Not everyone is kind or merciful.
But finally in her exhaustion, she took refuge in the path of someone who WOULD care. This kind family reached out to Roadside Rescue and agreed to give Chichi a temporary home while she healed and an adopter could be found. Her ribs were fractured, her tail had to be completely amputated—and the bullet remains lodged in her shoulder as it would cause more damage to remove it than to leave it.
But Chichi’s story WILL have a happy ending. This sweet resilient girl is feeling better. She is happy, calm, grateful, and so affectionate. She is quick to trust anyone she meets. She tells you she loves you by gently pressing her head to yours. She’s a wonderful girl who is ready for the next chapter of her story to begin. A chapter that tells of a loving furever home, cuddles on soft couches, kisses and car rides; maybe a friend to play with. She deserves for this chapter to begin, bringing her one step closer to her very own happily ever after.
