Meet Chevy

In April 2024, Chevy was struck by a vehicle and suffered severe injuries to his right hind leg that required amputation in order for him to live a comfortable life. Chevy came to RPC after his accident as his family was unable to be located.
Although confused and scared, he was determined to learn from the start! Chevy has quickly taught himself how to efficiently get around as a "tripod", and does best in his "Easy Walk" harness when on leash. He absolutely loves going for walks on our hiking trail with one of his stuffies and playing with staff in the yard.

We have not given Chevy the opportunity to meet any kitties as he tends to fixate on (stare at) them and he has had mixed reactions to other dogs. To our knowledge, Chevy has not had any experience with children so we think best if he is the one and only kiddo (and animal) in his home. This handsome boy is about 70 pounds and will need a strong owner who is able to lift/carry him if ever need be. (Likely wouldn't be necessary until his senior years.) Chevy's disability does not slow him down one bit, he is eager to get back to a "normal" life - where he can play all day and cuddle his favorite people (and stuffies) when its time to settle down. Chevy's amputation has healed beautifully and he no longer requires medications. We strongly believe a high quality diet and preventative joint supplements would be very beneficial for him, if he was to become overweight that would put a lot of stress on his body.

We want to ensure that Chevy is 110% healed and given all the tools he needs to start his next chapter before we part ways with him. That being said, it is never too early to send in an application!

If you are interesting in fostering/adopting Chevy, fill out an application at responsiblepetcare.org or contact us at (207) 743-8679 for more info.
