Meet Chelsea - PLEASE READ BIO!

Chelsea is sweet and looking for a great forever home or someone to sponsor her for her medical care while in our rescue!

Chelsea's owner died on Christmas and she was then re-homed twice after that before being taken to an open intake shelter. She was going to be euthanized if she was not rescued. Our rescue helps dogs that are have medical or behavioral issues.

She is affectionate and great with other dogs who are not reactive or in her face, and she can become frightened easily. So she needs an experienced schnauzer lover who has had experience with an easily frightened dog. Please tell us what experience you have had in the comments section or your application will be ignored. There must be NO kids in the household or lots of activity. We require the adopter to have a fenced yard unless they are planning to just walk her in their yard. We do not think she would do well at dog parks or in apartment or condo buildings because there is too much going on which would frighten her. She loves going on walks!

She is spayed, up to date on shots, micro-chipped, fecal and heart-worm tested negative. She just got a dental with no extractions. She also had a large and a small lipoma (fatty mass) removed. She is about 5 years old and is about 16 lbs. She is on the anxiety medicine Prozac once a day, and also Gabapentin twice a day which seems to help her be less fearful.

She did bite her last owner when she tried to brush her. We have been able to groom her with no issues. However, she may need to be sedated for medical grooming because she is very sensitive. She needs decompression time in a new environment. She does like to go for walks and loves being in a crate/kennel. She is a sweet girl, but boundaries must be respected. She may react accordingly if they are not. A schnauzer lover with experience with boundary issues would help.
