Cheezit Shepherd & Black Labrador Retriever Mix Rochester, NY

CHEEZIT is a medium mix of some kind (shepherdy labbish maybe with something smaller mixed) with some radar quality ears who is just 12 months old and about 35 lbs. We don’t know what to say about breed mixes and she seems to be a mix of a lot. She's smaller than a lab or any of the other mixes we can see. We’d be interested to see what her mix comes up if her adopter has her tested, for sure! Her foster reports she is very friendly towards all the people she has met so far - and has children and does okay with them too! She is working on potty training, doing well with only a few inside accidents, but has not gone potty in her crate! On walks, she does well on a leash with minimal pulling. She likes to stop and watch the birds and other small animals, but her foster says she is doing well with redirection. She is a very smart, and playful pup and is ready to meet her forever family! She's fully vetted.

The challenge we've had in finding an adopter for Cheezit is that she is VERY active and needs either a very active adopter (her current foster takes her on 2 bike rides a day plus several walks) or an adopter with a fenced in yard and another dog she can burn off her energy with. She'd also do best with someone able to be around most of the time and give her supervised inside time as, especially if she doesn't get enough exercise, she can have some destructive puppy tendencies if left to her own devices all day uncrated, BUT because of her high energy and exercise needs, she's not a dog who can be crated all day while someone is at work, either. She will make some family as wonderful addition - we've just got to find this gorgeous dog the right match!

Adoption fee covers: all vetting to age (including deworming, deflea etc ), spay/neuter and microchip after 6 months of age at our clinic, $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes, and lifetime support of rescue.

We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available.

PLEASE NOTE: If a dog is listed as Adoptable, he or she is still available at that time. Also, our adoption area is within a several hour radius of us in Rochester, NY (NOT including Canada - sorry!)
