Chase Manhatten Treeing Walker Coonhound & American Foxhound Mix Clarksville, VA

Chase Manhatten is a character with a lot of personality and a very nice Hound. He appears to have been a house dog at some point because he is house-broken and comfortable inside buildings. He came to LCSPCA on 12/12/23 at age 3 years, weighing 61 lbs. as a stray transferred to us from the county pound. Chase gets along with people and other dogs and causes no trouble at the shelter. He is a good boy. Chase enjoys romping and playing with other dogs. He never met a stranger and will stand up on you for a hug. He comes right to the front of the kennel with such warmth to see every stranger who goes by.

He had a stint in a home where it was found that he is completely house-broken. No accidents. He is loving and enjoys cuddling and loves a good nap on a couch. Chase is very comfortable inside a house and is a nice social dog. However, he chased a cat. It was also found he has a strong prey drive and pulls and gets very excited when he sees deer while being leash-walked. But he does well inside a fence. He does not climb or dig if he sees deer or squirrels and will busy himself playing with other dogs. Due to his hunting instincts and energy level, he will need a good amount of space to run around, and/or another dog to play with, and/or an active owner. Wanting to run, play, hunt or chase a cat is of course common to many big dogs.
