Charlie's owner in Tripoli, Iowa, has health issues and she is moving out of state to live with family. Even though she has had him since a puppy, her family would not let Charlie come with her. She was very devasted and worried about Charlie so searched out no kill places and Waverly Pet Rescue was able to take Charlie in. He is now living in a foster home and his owner is very grateful Charlie is safe with us and will find a wonderful forever home. Charlie is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and neutered.

Charlie is an 8-year-old Beagle mix. He weighs 45 pounds but should be closer to 35 so needs to lose some weight. His foster home will work on that with him with his food and some exercise. He will need to continue this in a new forever home. He does well with other dogs and with cats. Charlie is a sweet dog and loves petting and attention. He would be a wonderful companion for someone needing a friend. He is housetrained and also trained to use a doggy door in his foster home. Because of his breed, a fenced in yard is required.

11/8/24 UPDATE: He’s such a sweet boy. He taken quite a liking to our granddaughter. He’s likes to lay on the floor next to you and suckles, not chews, his blanket. It’s adorable!!

Will someone please adopt Charlie and give him a forever home? $150.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
