Charlie would thrive in a reasonably calm home with experienced and/or patient dog owners willing to work with her on her anxiety and to continue her CBD regimen.

Charlie currently lives with a 16-year-old and they get along very well. But she would prefer no young children under 12. A home with a fenced-in yard is preferred.

When she wants attention, Charlie “talks” – she snaps her jaws and makes adorable bird-like noises.

Charlie is not an Alpha dog - when she wrestles with our dog, she spends most of the time rolling around on the floor with her stubby legs sticking straight up in the air and appears rather content.

Charlie is very food motivated and curious – she loves trying new foods. Her current favorite snacks are blueberries and cucumbers (although she hasn’t said no to a piece of steak or chicken either).

She enjoys taking sun baths in our backyard and making sure no squirrels claim her property as their own.

Charlie only has one issue that needs work and patience: she is house trained, but she has a lot of anxiety, and she expresses her fear and uncertainty by making small puddles on the floor. It’s well managed by adding CBD oil to her diet. As she gets used to her new home, the issue also improves.

:
Charlie is a pint-sized treasure of a dog. She has a very friendly disposition. In our home, she gets along well with all humans, dogs, and cats alike. A little cautious around strangers at first, she makes friends fast with proper introductions.

Charlie is very playful. She enjoys playing tug-of-war with her human and dog companions, and having wrestling matches with our dog.

Charlie can be a bit of a vocal attention hog. When she wants to play, to be petted or picked up, she lets us know in no uncertain terms. Her enormous soulful eyes make it hard to resist! However, Charlie tends to settle down quickly when everyone is otherwise preoccupied.

She possesses the stubbornness of a Dachshund, the energy of a Jack Russell Terrier – but in short spurts, and the wit and cuteness of the two breeds combined.

Charlie knows basic commands such as “Sit” and “Touch”. She’s very food motivated and learns quickly. She has some anxiety when she encounters dogs on her walks but is making progress learning to redirect her attention to her human (with some minor treat reinforcement ?).

She hasn’t displayed any food aggression or any kind of aggression in general.
When it’s time for bed, Charlie commits to it fully – wherever she’s sleeping that night, she passes out on the spot. Her favorite place is under the blanket right next to her human, but she sleeps in her dog bed quite contentedly also. She likes to be covered with a comfy throw or towel.

At some point in her past, Charlie sustained a back injury – most likely she was hit by a car while roaming the streets, although it is possible that she was also abused. Charlie has undergone acupuncture and chiropractic treatments. She’s made great progress! Her injury never slowed her down before. But now she no longer drags her hind legs and has much improved control of her body.
As a result of her injury, Charlie developed the silliest and most adorable walk. - Her front legs do the majority of the work, and her butt hops along.
Charlie now enjoys 20-to-30-minute walks on a leash twice a day. She used to need shoes or socks for her walks, but now that her hind legs work better, she only wears them once in a while to avoid wearing her back claws down too much.
Charlie has no separation anxiety. She can stay home by herself for a few hours with no incidents. Since she’s a small dog with a small bladder, we haven’t left her for longer than 5 hours.

Charlie only has one issue that needs work and patience: she is house trained, but she has a lot of anxiety, and she expresses her fear and uncertainty by making small puddles on the floor. As she got used to our home, her peeing improved. We added CBD oil to her diet, and it is now mostly under control.
Charlie would thrive in a reasonably calm home with experienced and/or patient dog owners willing to work with her on her anxiety and to continue her CBD regimen.
