Hi, My name is Charlie! I am a 3 year old purebred Australian Shepherd. I am a total goofball and when my wiggle butt starts going, I turn into a croissant any time I get excited. If you love adventures, I am your guy, I LOVE adventures! Hikes are my favorite but I am down to do pretty much any type of adventure, I am a true herding breed, after all. While I do love adventures, I also do enjoy downtime as well. Nylabones are my go to when I want to settle in and relax. My foster mom thinks that I would make a fantastic sport dog, especially in agility or disc dog!
I have a lot of training under my belt, I did a board and train at a facility here in Buffalo and lucky for me, my foster mom is a dog trainer and has been putting in a lot of work to make sure I am in the best shape possible for my future owner(s). On that note, have I mentioned that she is offering free training to my future adopter(s)? She wants to make sure that I am set up for success in my future home. I am also crate trained and don’t mind being in my crate, I have learned that my crate is my safe space. Plus, foster mom likes to give me kongs in there and I love a good kong!
In true Aussie fashion, I am a bit of a nervous boy and on top of that, I was a Covid puppy so my social skills aren’t always the best. It takes me a bit of time to warm up to other people and dogs but once I do, I am totally fine with them. I am super food motivated though so that usually helps to get me to warm up to people! For dogs, I would probably do best in a house with a chill but confident dog. One that will give me my space in the beginning but then become my bestie. Cats? Not a problem! I currently live with three cats and I don’t even care about them. Since I can be a nervous boy, I would do best in a house without children. Or at least ones that can respect my boundaries.
I would do best in a house with a family that understands my breed and knows that Australian Shepherds need a lot of mental and physical exercise to truly be satisfied. But most importantly, I need a family that I know will keep me safe and advocate for me when I am feeling nervous.
If you are interested in adopting me please reach out to my foster mom at cmadams5190@gmail.com.
