Chalupa is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.

Meet Chalupa!

Chalupa is a 2 year old female husky who currently weighs 45 pounds. Chalupa is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find a family to call her own!

Chalupa was seen roaming around a neighborhood for quite some time. Neighbors were feeding her and keeping an eye on her, but no one could take her in. One night one of the neighbor's dogs was barking at a culvert in their front yard and the neighbor went to go check it out. She heard crying, so she got down into the culvert and found Chalupa and 2 tiny puppies. No one even knew she was pregnant due to how skinny she was. We were alerted of this family and their rescue mission began immediately! Volunteers climbed into the culvert to rescue mom and her tiny babies! Mom and pups are all thriving in their foster homes and are ready for adoption!

Chalupa is dog friendly and has gotten along with every single dog she's met! She would thrive in a forever home with dog siblings. Chalupa has a moderate energy level. She enjoys playing fetch and running around, but will happily relax on the couch or floor dependent on which is closer. She's friendly and playful, but not overly rambunctious. She's great about matching the other dog's energy level.

Chalupa hasn't met any cats yet, so we're not sure how she would react to them.

Chalupa is kid friendly! She's so gentle and has such a friendly nature, but she can be a bit playful sometimes, so for this reason, we would suggest children ages 5+.

Chalupa walks great on a leash! She does not pull and stays calmly by your side. She can get slightly distracted by other dogs as she must say â€œhi" to everyone.

Chalupa is fully potty trained! Chalupa is not a huge fan of the crate, but she currently free roams in her foster home and does great with this! She cries a little bit when you leave, but I have checked on her through the doggie cam and she settles quickly and forgets I'm even gone! At night, she is set with just a couch/dog bed and a blanket. She’s also great about sharing her food, toys and treats with her doggie foster sibling. She is nothing but generous!

Chalupa would love to come with you anywhere you go. She is still feeling out the motions of the car and stays in the backseat. She loves to stick her head out the window, tongue out of course until she finally settles and lays down.

Here's a small blurb about Chalupa from her foster mom:

Chalupa is the perfect mix of sweet and silly! Rescued from the streets, she started off shy, but has blossomed into a bubbly, affectionate girl. She’s medium energy—loves a good walk but also enjoys lounging around. Her happy little hop when she gets excited will melt your heart, and her contortionist-style sleeping positions will keep you entertained and laughing. I'd say that Chalupa has a moderate energy level- she enjoys going for walks and playtime, but will also happily snuggle up on the couch and relax. I think she would really enjoy having another dog in the home to play with! She was a little shy when first coming over to my house, but she warmed up quickly and I think my personal dog really helped her to come out of her shell. She can be a little shy when first meeting strangers, but she warms up quickly and never shows any sign of aggression. She's potty trained, great on the leash and all-around a great companion, she’s ready for her forever home!
