Meet Cato
Hi! My name is Cato. Im a Husky mixed breed dog, a 3 year old guy and weigh about 80 lbs. My foster mom says I am a lovable, playful, and curious guy with excellent house manners. I'm a pretty quiet guy and I don't bark much. I never want to leave my humans' side because everything my humans do is very interesting to me! I looove attention and will take as much loving and petting as you can give.
I'm currently living with 2 huskies, a toddler, and a cat and we all get along fine. When I'm not snuggling, I show off my energetic side and like to run around.
I am potty trained and will let myself out of a doggy door if you have one.
I oan stay overnight out of my crate, but I don't complain when I am in my crate. I walk with a loose leash, and have a good recall. I already know some commands, including sit, down and kennel.
I can't wait to get to my forever home! Is that with you? Apply to adopt me today! This cuteness wont be available for long!
This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. The dog was treated for the disease prior to transport north.
Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPHs heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read more about heartworm disease here here

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
