Meet Casper
Meet Casper, the biggest goof of a sweetheart at 77 pounds of energetic affection. Casper has had quite the journey even from the bit we know about him but that doesn't stop him from loving life and everyone he meets! If you're a dedicated, patient, and strong handler ready to be rewarded with the most special of pups, you've found your match.
This boy is fully house-trained and medium (but big) energy, so would absolutely love a yard to play and run in, but could do well in a home where regular walks and playtime are a guarantee. As much as he may like a good walk to get to his most mellow of places, Casper will gladly spend the day hanging out on the couch, and may plop down on top of you if you'll let him. He's a fan of toys and anything food as well as the perfect balance of play and relax.
We have learned that Casper is likely hard of hearing. He will need structure and regular training using hand signals. It seems he can hear/sense certain sounds, such as dogs barking and high pitched sounds like screeching but we're still learning in the process!
This charming pup is fully house-trained. While he hasn't been crated, he's not destructive when left alone, he seems adaptable and is ready to learn.
As for other animals, this is where Casper is exceptionally playful; he's still learning that not all pups want to play 24/7 and will need monitored/structured time with other dogs. For this reason he likely would be best as an only dog or in a home with a dog that is tolerant and family is willing to monitor playtime.
When it comes to humans, Casper is a love bug. He adores older kids, but due to his exuberance, smaller ones might get bowled over by his affection. He's shown curiosity towards cats with proper introductions, having even shown interest in rats through their cage so if they're not afraid he'd like want to simply be their playful friend.
Health-wise, he's in perfect condition, and his love for toys—especially puzzles and Kongs—reflects his food-motivated nature. Casper's energy level ranges from medium to high, so exercise and regular stimulation is a must, although training will tire him out!
Not overly vocal, Casper might bark occasionally in the yard when prompted by other dogs, but he's generally quiet and adaptable to shared walls in apartments or townhomes. Casper isn't one to want to leave you, but due to his special needs would best not be off leash unless proper training were in place.
This ham of a pup is a gem waiting to find his forever home—soft, sweet, and eager to bring endless love to whoever welcomes him. He also loves to spoon and is ready to hug you and bring a smile to your face daily.

The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
