"Hello everyone, my name is Carlos! My story doesn’t start off too great. One day I found myself tied to a tree left scared and alone, but a really nice person showed up and brought me to this place full of friends like me. I was shy at first, but I’m learning there are a lot of nice people out there. I love cuddling with the staff and volunteers it’s the best. I also like playing with my dog friends, it’s so much fun!
I’m hoping to find someone patient and gentle, just like me. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, gentle companion, I’m your guy! I promise to be the best friend you’ve ever had. I’m just waiting for my forever home. Could that be you?"
Carlos is a cute guy with a pretty tricolor coat. He is 4 years old and he weighs 50 lbs.
Sadly, Carlos tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about his heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering him (we’d love to find him a foster home!). Once his treatment plan is completed, Carlos will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!
ADOPTING A PET
We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. We are also open Monday through Friday by appointment. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.
If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.
Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).
