Camden American Bulldog Mix West Milford, NJ

Camden is a 4-year-old American Bulldog mix. He has been looking for a new home since last summer - almost a year now! After his owner passed away, he found himself at our shelter without other family members able to give him a home. He has been at WMASS since June of 2024 and is a favorite of the volunteers. However, shelter life can wear on a dog, and it did so for Camden. Canine Cooperative (our trainers, Jaimee/Sabrina) volunteered to foster this big lug to help give him life skills to improve his chances of finding his forever home.

So what’s the deal with this guy? Why has he been waiting so long for a home?

Camden is truly an amazing dog; he is confident, a true buddy, a protector, even a father-like figure! These are traits most people want in a dog, but do not understand how to handle properly. He needs time for proper introductions to new people. He knows his “family”, but needs to learn that new people are not a threat. These are some of the many skills we are teaching him at Canine Cooperative. With proper introductions, Camden makes new friends and invites them into his circle.

Since being at Canine Cooperative, Camden has turned into our favorite! We enjoy off-leash hikes, fetching balls, lazy days in the sun, lounging on the couch, and tons of snuggles. He has socialized with a few dogs and seems to do well with easy-going females. He is currently muzzled in social situations because he, when challenged by another dog, will rise to the occasion. Don’t be saddened by this! This is how we help dogs grow and learn more about what scenarios they will do best in.

Camden is looking for an adult home without young children. His human needs to have strong leadership qualities to guide him to be successful with the adoption. Camden is not for a first-time dog owner. He needs a family that is confident and has experience working with reactive dogs, who understands that relationships and communication take time, and is willing to continue training with him. Canine Cooperative will offer lifetime support for his adopter.

Camden can be capable of SO much with the right person. We live such a fulling life with him and have full confidence that with the right family he can continue to have all of that and more.

He is our longest dog resident at this time.

Stop in to fill out an adoption application, and we will set up a meet-and-greet for you with Camden! If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you can have a dog. Also, bring your Vet's information, so we can conduct a vet check (and please let your Vet know we will be making a call).

Our adoption fee is $150.00 for dogs. Our animals are fully vetted before being placed for adoption, and spayed/neutered if they are old enough. If they are too young for spay or neuter, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.
