Hello there! Meet the great Caesar!
100% good boy this one is for sure. We will never know where he came from or the hell he endured. We only know he was brought in as a stray to one of the highest kill shelters in rural GA. He was skin and bones- even most of his hair was gone. He looked to be 5-6 years old…imagine to our surprise this sweet angel was maybe 10-12 months old! He is now about 2 years and about 65lbs (as of August 2023). He had no idea what love was and is still learning that it’s really nice to be loved on- he definitely craves love but is unsure how to ask for it, so we just smother him in it, and he’s caught on quick. He had an awful but very easily treated skin condition that is healing up great and he has finally gained a healthy amount of weight!
Let me tell you what Caesar does know… TOYS. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt this boy better have the bark box/ bully box/ extreme chewer subscription and an unlimited toy fund. Caesar will do ANYTHING for toys. Sticks, balls, frisbee, rope, or stuffy- he’s not picky- he will play with them all!!!! For the first few months he would actually choose a toy over any treat. It was like he never had a toy before, and he just can’t get enough! Truth be told, he deserves them all. One look into this guys sweet doe brown eyes and your entire soul will melt. His big ears, wiggle butt and uncoordinated legs running after a toy will steal your heart. He is also goofy and guaranteed to make you laugh. He will lay outside sunbathing, playing with you or just with his toys by himself all day if you let him. Sometimes he will even go get his blankie out of his crate to take outside with him to lay on, or to bring on the couch to lay on or nibble on. He is such a cutie! If you want to play with Caesar you must bring several toys… because he will go get the toy, then not give it back, but 10/10 expects you to throw it again. It’s a pretty fun game.
He loves puppies and female dogs, but he is selective with male dogs. He can be a bit intense at first when meeting a new adult dog as he gets very excited and sometimes forgets how to initiate play, but he loves to run around the yard with them and lay in the grass! Proper slow introductions are very important for this boy, and you should not bring toys into the mix with other dogs until he has been around them for a while or he will try to take all the toys from the other dog which could cause tension/possible fights depending on how the other dog reacts He isn’t a fan of super high energy dogs. Due to these things, we do not think Caesar is a dog that should go to dog parks. If there is another dog in the home, he should eat in his crate with the door latched. This is because he will not be receptive to another dog trying to eat out of his bowl, and he will go to eat the other dogs food as soon as he is out of the crate which could easily cause a fight. Cats are a whole lot of nope.
He is excellent on leash, knows sit and paw, listens well and has great manners! He now loves treats and has learned to be gentle when taking them from you! He loves going for rides in the car and is a great co-pilot! He would like to add that he is 100% a lap doggo and a bed doggo now. He loves his crate and structure is great but snuggles and Netflix are now mandatory. If there’s anything else that you’d like to know about him just ask!
