Meet Buddy-NEEDS FOSTER
Introducing Buddy! He’s now looking for his forever best friend.
Buddy is a 3-4 year old (best guess) Australian Shepherd. He is 53 pounds, black and white with handsome speckled paws and chin, and has deep brown eyes that let you know he thinks you are wonderful! We don’t know much about Buddy’s past, but he is a real sweetheart. He loves car rides and going out on walks. Buddy walks easily on a leash without much pulling, and he is non-reactive to his surroundings. Dogs, adults, kids, bikes, squirrels - no problem for Buddy!
He is learning about toys and loves stuffed animals and kongs. His perfect day would be to go on a couple of walks and sit nearby for cuddles and pets. He especially loves belly rubs. He knows some commands like “sit” and is very food motivated, so learning new commands is coming easily. He’s also just starting to show some interest in doggy puzzles - how fun! While Buddy would love a yard, he is a low-medium energy dog, and would thrive in any home as long as he gets regular walks and outdoor play time. He is housebroken and loves his crate. He sleeps through the night without complaint and often goes in to chill during the day. He will most definitely accept your invitation to snuggle on the couch but will also respond well to gentle direction to get off of furniture. Buddy does very well meeting other dogs, but we think he’d be best matched with a female canine companion in the home or as an only dog. We are working on testing Buddy with cats but suspect he’d do just fine with them given his lack of prey drive and his lovely demeanor.
He is neutered and up to date on vaccines but does have some ongoing medical needs. (Don’t worry - he is expected to make a FULL recovery.) He can be adopted as foster to adopt so that ARMA can continue to cover his medical care until he has a clean bill of health.
Can't adopt? Buddy could also use a traditional foster until his forever family finds him!
