Brandon was a stray in NE Iowa that went unclaimed at a vet office. He is now a WPR doggy. He is now neutered, has all shots, is heartworm negative. He is living in a foster home.
Brandon is about 2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is very well behave after calms down a bit, he does have a lot of energy. A fenced in yard is required for him because of his energy and he likes to explore and will run off otherwise. He does sit and stay when told, he is very smart. Loves kids and other dogs.
1/12/15 UPDATE: Brandon does ok with cats too! He would be a perfect dog for just about any home.
1/31/15 UPDATE: Brandon is very mild mannered & laid back. A little hyper when you first get home after work because he is excited to see you but settles down pretty easily. Stays in my yard with me outside watching, comes very well when called if he wanders outside my boundaries. We are still requiring a fenced in yard for him to keep him safe because he will wander off. Pretty well house trained so far with only 2 accidents(both in middle of nite while I'm sleeping). He doesn't try to wake me if he needs to go out. Haven't seen the need to kennel him yet, so I haven't. He is a really good boy! And especially considering he has only been in my home for 5 days now. He wants to please and is very smart. Won't take long for an adoptive home to teach him your routine.
3/22/15 UPDATE: Brandon sometimes has been vomiting his food up after he eats.I think I've figured out his stomach issues, I lessened his food intake because he inhales it & also try to keep him from drinking too much too fast. We have been spending more time outside & I have found he knows how to retrieve but doesn't exactly bring it back to you. As u can see in his new pic, he heads straight for the door to go inside with it. I block the porch steps & can keep him playing that way. He will retrieve his rope & bring it back trying to get to the house door, but I have him blocked, u let's go of the rope easily, occasionally attempts a little tug of war, but this allows me to keep him retrieving & getting some exercise. He has a shoe fetish, so shoes have to be kept in a closet or somewhere he can't get to while I'm away from home. When I'm gone is the only time he has chewed my shoes. Hope a home can be found for him, he is full of love & playful.
Will someone please adopt Brandon and give him a forever home? $100.00 adoption fee.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $150 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
