RETIREMENT HOME NEEDED!!!
Boots' adoption fee has been sponsored!!
Have a heart for precious senior dogs? Want to offer your home and heart to those that deserve to have their last years be some of the best of their lives?
Boots came to us at the Humane Society of West Alabama with her "brother" ZigZag (or Ziggy as he was fondly called) when their owner became physically unable to care for them. Our precious Ziggy recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge, having lived a long life of 14+ years, all of which were filled with lots of love and affection. Boots, a spry 10-year-old, is now left without her lifetime pal and needs to find a home where she can be doted on and spoiled with attention for the remainder of her life.
Boots is definitely young at heart and certainly has more energy than you might expect (although it can be short-lived)! This happy girl is friendly, sweet, affectionate, treat-craving, toy-loving, and she would bless any home fortunate enough to take her in.
Sweet Boots is a 10-year-old female German Shepherd/Labrador mix that had been living a nice, content life until the sudden health issues of her owner caused her to need a new home. Boots is a good size dog weighing 55 pounds with a nice thick smooth black and white coat. Her owner had been involved with animal rescue in the Tuscaloosa area, so we want to find a good home for this super dog. Boots is used to living inside with another dog and spending time outside in a fenced in yard.
Boots was bonded with her lifelong friend ZigZag, so would probably do well with another senior male dog. She does not like other female dogs and cannot be in a home with cats.
Boots is house trained and is comfortable in a crate - with the door kept opened! She has nice energy for her age and enjoys the company of another dog - as long as it's not a female dog! We do not believe an apartment setting would work for Boots. She is used to a rather quiet environment with an older person. She does well with children, yet due to her size, may be better with children 6 and older so she doesn't inadvertently knock them over. Boots is spayed and is heartworm negative.
Boots is adjusting to her new normal with her constant companion Ziggy, but luckily dogs are very adaptable given the time they need to settle in and process their new environment. She will be loyal and love her new owner just like she did the last one.
Our adoption fee is $125, and Boot's adoption fee has been sponsored.
