Meet Boogie Bear
We have a special boy to share with you. He's a 5.5 yr old Wheaten who came to rescue last summer. Prior to that, he was in a puppy mill, and then a shelter. To say he hasn't had it easy, is probably an understatement. He was so timid and undersocialized. Once in rescue, he went to a nice foster home, and was later adopted by his foster mom. He made good strides, but his adopter's situation has changed, requiring her to be gone from home, and Boogie Bear is having a hard time adjusting. So we are looking for a stable, calm home with routine for him, with someone/s who are home a fair amount of time. Boogie Bear does well in the home when his person is there. He gets nervous and can have an accident when his person is traveling. He seems to prefer women but men can earn his trust over time. He follows his person everywhere she goes, and sleeps on a dog bed by her side. He does well with dogs and cats. Boogie Bear loves car rides. Fireworks and thunder don’t seem to affect him, but any quick movement or loud noise may make him retreat to his “safe space”. He does fine with baths and grooming.
He doesn’t chew, nip or bite. Hardly ever barks and never growls. He doesn’t jump fences or dig. He is mostly house broken when there is no chaos in the home. He is very tolerant and quiet.
Boogie Bear's ideal home would be someone who is calm, patient, who doesn't travel a whole lot, with a fenced yard (no electric fences, please). No small children - Boogie Bear is nice to everyone, but quick, sudden movements and loud noises would intimidate him.
Boogie Bear is in Omaha, and anyone interested would need to meet him and adopt in person.
