Meet Bonnie
Are you looking for a lovable, affectionate house hippo to join your family? Well, then Bonnie (aka Bonnie B. Goode, aka Madame, aka Bongo Butt) is the pup for you! Not a morning person? That’s ok, neither is Bonnie! This little lady loves to sleep in and snuggle on the couch.
But don’t let her age fool you—she’s spry for an older gal. She loves to explore outside, go on walks, zoom around, and play with her toys. While she enjoys being a couch potato, she does best with a daily walk or exercise to keep her happy and stimulated. Her mobility is great—she handles stairs just fine but may need a little boost getting into the car. A moderately active family or a fenced yard for exploring would be ideal for her.
Leash Training & Socialization
Bonnie is leash-trained and a very polite walker, but she’s also a strong lady when she gets excited by an interesting scent or sees another dog. It’s best for an adult to handle her on walks. She is dog-reactive and will whine or pull toward other dogs but can be redirected with patience. While she’s unlikely to be a dog park pup, we’ve seen improvement in her recall—she now comes back and sits when called!
Bonnie loves her people but needs time to warm up to new faces. She can get overwhelmed in large groups and prefers to approach guests on her own terms. If given her own "safe space" (like her favorite chair), she settles in well. Guests should allow her time to decompress and wait for her to come to them rather than approaching her first. Once she’s comfortable, she’ll happily snuggle on the couch for movie night!
She would do best in a home with older, respectful children (12-15+), as she can be anxious around rowdy kids. With time and structure, she has shown progress in meeting new people, and her foster family continues working on positive reinforcement training to build her confidence.
House Manners & Playtime
Bonnie is fully house-trained and now a pro at using the dog door! She can be left alone in the house without issue—she doesn’t chew or destroy things, though she loves her toys and Kongs. That said, she does need plenty of mental stimulation, or she may get creative—she once chewed some LEGO pieces when she got bored and hadn’t had her walk yet!
Her favorite activities include:
? Snuffle mats & puzzle toys
? Lick mats & chews
? Exploring the yard and barking into the void for 5 minutes a day ?
Health & Care
Bonnie is healthy, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and recently had a dental cleaning. She eats Science Diet Adult 7+ kibble and enjoys grazing throughout the day. She also gets a daily Cosequin supplement for joint health.
While she was previously prescribed Trazodone (an anti-anxiety medication), she hasn’t needed it, but it could be helpful in situations like meeting guests.
Who is Bonnie Looking For?

??????? A moderately active family or a fenced yard for her to explore.
???? Someone patient and understanding of her initial shyness with new people.
