Meet Bonita

Meet Bonita - The Life of the Paw-ty!

Bonita isn't just beautiful-she's breathtaking. This 1.5-year-old Siberian Husky stunner made her way from Mexico to Oregon with a second chance and a sparkle in her eye, and now she's ready to live her best life with you!

Bonita's journey hasn't been easy-rescued from a heartbreaking situation where she was found emaciated and chained-but you'd never guess it from her bright, bubbly personality. This girl is all love, all joy, and all goofball energy. She's affectionate, curious, and playful, with a zest for life that's absolutely contagious.

What makes Bonita a total star:

Dog-social & people-loving: She's amazing with humans (kids included!) and dogs on and off leash. Her play style is bold and bouncy-perfect for a young, playful pup buddy.

Smart as a whip: She LOVES learning, thrives with structure, and picks up on training fast.

Adventure-ready: Whether it's a hike, a walk around the block, or hanging at your feet at a cafe-Bonita's in.

Snuggle-approved: After a good play session, she's more than happy to chill by your side and soak in the love.

Bonita is still very much a pup at heart-with that classic husky spirit-so she'll need a home ready to meet her energy with exercise, mental stimulation, and lots of positive reinforcement. She's doing great on house training and crate time but should still be crated or contained when left alone (unless you want to see her interior decorating skills ).

She does have a bit of a prey drive (squirrels, beware!), so she'll need someone who can keep her focused and safe on leash in those high-distraction moments. But with the right guidance? She settles beautifully.

Foster update:

"She is the sweetest! Zero aggression-just a big puppy who LOVES to play. Wrestling? Pouncing? Goofy zoomies? Yep, that's Bonita! She can be a bit much for small or senior pups, but for a fellow young, playful dog? She's an absolute blast. She's eager to please, loves her people, and has so much potential-it's been so fun starting her training!"

Bonita is bursting with love, loyalty, and personality. She's looking for a home that will keep up with her adventurous spirit, guide her with kindness, and love her unconditionally.

Think you're ready for this gorgeous girl and all the fun that comes with her? Bonita is ready to bounce into your heart and bring the party to your life!

steps to adopting

(OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!)

The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires.

To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee of $550. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost.

Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
