Meet BOB (Neutered!)

Gee, where to start to describe this boy! BOB arrived at the shelter, the latter part of June 2024 along with his brother, MARLEY. Their cage cards indicate that they were about 2 to 3 months of age when they arrived at the shelter. The two puppies had skin conditions that prevented them from getting through the shelter puppy program quickly. Those conditions have cleared up nicely and they have had two sets of puppy vaccines. So, they are ready for adoption. Thankfully, these two precious puppies were able to be neutered at the new spay/neuter clinic in town on their second day trial run. As a result, each one of these boys will be able to go home the same day that he is adopted! They are high energy and they come with a. PUPPY ALERT. Please think carefully before you adopt one. Puppies are not for everybody. Along with that high energy, they chew everything in sight, they have potty accidents everywhere you wish they would not, they bark and they drag dirt into the house. In other words, they aren’t much different than raising children. If you are not a professional trainer, you certainly will need to hire one to help you get this little darling through its puppy stage so that it becomes a good companion and neighbor. And yes, your neighbors will care that your dog is well trained. So, do not adopt on a whim. Think carefully about the puppy you are considering, and its breed mix to the extent that that may be known. Think about the size to which it will grow when it is a full adult and think about whether or not you have prepared your house, your car and your yard as safe places for your new puppy. And, make sure that everybody in the family is on board with the training requirements required, and that they are fully prepared to assist in that process. Do you already have a veterinarian lined up for this new family member? Have you purchased a dog bed? Did you get a dog crate for transport? How about a puppy leash and collar so that you can begin training your puppy immediately? Do you have puppy food on hand, along with washable food and water dishes? Safe puppy toys? Serious adopters who are prepared to take on the responsibility for raising a puppy are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared! That includes taking your own dog collar and leash with you to the adoption appointment in case you do decide to adopt one of these precious boys. Even better, take a dog crate with you to that appointment. No animal should be allowed to run freely in any vehicle. Especially an animal that you have just adopted! Safety first!
