Meet Bertram

Bertram was the cutest 4-month-old puppy when he came to rescue! Sadly, he has been in rescue now for close to a year. Some might think Bertram has a few strikes against him, but we think it just adds to his amazing cuteness and personality. Besides Bertram being a black coated mix dog, it is believed Bertram has a weird gait due to neurological deficit. This just means that he walks a little silly and is a bit clumsy. His condition should not deteriorate, but it should be noted that as he ages his physical needs can change. Bertram would do best in a home with no stairs. Bertram does like to cuddle so ramps to the bed are a great way for him to move around. Bertram is a dense dog so the ability to lift Bertram when needed is something to also consider. Bertram has the best disposition and is the sweetest boy once he knows you. He does take a couple minutes to warm up as he has not had a great past, so patience as Bertram's owner is a must to have him continue to flourish. Bertram does well with all dogs and enjoys playing. Bertram does well with cats and livestock. Bertram currently resides with children and does great. Older children are preferred as Bertram sometimes likes to herd when playing. Bertram likes riding in the car and is currently being kenneled trained. Bertram has learned potty training since being at rescue, and he can use the dog door successfully. Bertram is learning basic commands and comes when called. Since Bertram is still young training and exposure for socialization would be best. Bertram is neutered, UTD on vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped. Homeownership and fenced yard are preferred.

Bertram did have some time away from the rescue on a trail adoption and it was reported that Bertram does bark a couple of times if the person is to leave the residence when kenneled. At the rescue he does not exhibit this behavior so it is believed that it is just due to adjusting and some separation anxiety.

This rescue will not adopt out to individuals with unaltered domestic animals.
