WEEKEND ADOPTION EVENTS:
SATURDAY, DEC. 16 from 12-3PM: Dog Adoption Event at OLATHE PetSmart at 119th & Strang Line with volunteers from Heart of America Humane Society! We'll have several wonderful dogs there looking for homes.
WEEKEND SHELTER HOURS:
FRIDAY, DEC. 15: OPEN 10AM-3PM; NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY!
SATURDAY, DEC. 16: OPEN 10AM-3PM; NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY!
SUNDAY, DEC. 17: OPEN 10AM-3PM; NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY!
BERNY is a absolutely adorable Bernese Mountain Dog mix! He is 2 years old and he weighs 52 lbs. He has a gorgeous coat. Berny is super fun and playful. He loves other dogs and loves people. And he loves rolling around in the snow-- check out his video! Berny was a stray and he found himself on the bottom of a dog pile when a fight broke out over a female dog. When our officer arrived on the scene, he immediately ran over to her and jumped in the truck! He's a lover, not a fighter! He is now neutered, and his wounds have been treated and are healing up. Berny is the sweetest boy and just wants to be everyone’s friend.
Sadly, BERNY tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get him into a home during his treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about his heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering him (we’d love to find him a foster home!). Once his treatment plan is completed, Berny will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions!
ADOPTING A PET
We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. We are also open Monday through Friday by appointment. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.
If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.
Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).
