Benji is the most special dog we’ve ever had with us in rescue and will only go to the perfect home!

This adorable wire haired mix was found on the verge of death in a ditch. He had heat stroke, was so matted he had to be almost shaved, was severely underweight and covered in fleas and ticks.

When we took Benji for neuter they noticed a mass- it was biopsied and he had testicular cancer. After removing his scrotum the veterinarian felt confident it had not spread anywhere else.

On top of that he is also HW positive. We have opted to do the slow kill treatment because of age. He also gets recurring ear infections and needs to be regularly checked for those.

At around 25lbs now he is thriving but it took a lot to get him here. He is friendly both to humans and other dogs but will resource guard food and treats. Benji sleeps in a bed with kids every night and free roams the house by day with his friend and rescue buddy Kevin the cat. We would love for him to find his own family but until the perfect situation comes along, he can stay in rescue.

***If you choose to adopt (before all vetting is complete) and use your own vet rather than our local Snip Clinic for these services, you do so at your own expense and it will not reduce the adoption fee. Adoption fees are NON NEGOTIABLE.

1.) All dogs are adopted to the best possible match and calling or emailing the rescue will not speed up the process or liken your chances of being chosen.

2.) You will be notified by adoption coordinator if your application is approved. Adoptions are set up by appointment only. We do not have “hours” of operation.

3.) If the dog is posted as Available on Petfinder, it is available but may have pending applications and meet and greets set up.

4.) If you are not ready to immediately meet the dog you are applying for, please do not apply- we are too busy for window shoppers! Every dog is available to be taken home with you at the time of the meet and greet.

5.) We recommend you bring a carrier with you to transport the dog home as some can get carsick. Adult dogs and most puppies over 6 months of age will require a slip lead.

6.) Adoption fees can be paid with Cash, Check, Venmo, PayPal and credit Card.
