Meet Bene

Hi - my name is Bene and, if I may say so myself, I am incredibly handsome. My coloration is gorgeous and my curly hair is long and soft. My previous owners could not handle my high energy level and puppy behavior. If I am to be honest, I did get in a bit of mischief. But hey, I'm young and "full of myself"!

My previous owners told my friends at AGPR that I was Estrela Mountain Dog (a working dog from Portugal) and Great Pyr but I honestly don't know. I can't remember my mom and dad and only know that the photos on Google for the mountain dog look like me.

I am looking for a VERY SPECIAL HOME! Here's the deal...I like my food...very much. If you aren't good at reading between the lines, that means I am protective of my food and can be a bit food aggressive. I do a really nice job of sitting for a treat, but my food bowl is MINE and if you drop food on the floor, it is MINE.

That means I will not be adopted to a family with kids and I need a family with big dog experience and one who will work with me on the food possessiveness.

Wait - there's more! I can get out of a 6' fence if I want to. So I need at least a 6' fence and I need a female canine companion. I think that would really help my wanderlust. I require companionship. If you are interested in being my new family, we'll need to do a meet and greet to see if the "chemistry" is there.

Other than that, I'm a love with young boy tendencies. I'll be a year old in July so I still have more maturing to do.

P.S. More photos to follow - things are busy here at the rescue!

All Great Pyrenees require a fenced-in yard (Bene needs at least six foot high). If you have questions about the breed or our adoption policies and procedures, please go to our website at www.agprescue.org. There's plenty of good information about the breed on our website - Pyrs aren't a breed for everyone!

Our adoption application is online: http://agprescue.org/adoption-application/agpr-application-donations/ Please note that we are a small regional rescue organization. We will consider adopting to families within a four to five hour drive to Richmond, VA
