Meet Belle
Belle, our 3 month old 12 pound corgi mix, has been telling everyone about her upcoming growth spurt. She goes on and on about when "her legs come in" and how she'll be "so good at basketball". She's excited to finally be able to see what's on the counter. We don't have the heart to tell her.
Belle came to us after being found stray with a nasty wound on her neck. It turns out, the wound was secondary to a grass seed that had migrated under the skin! Once we removed the seed, Belle healed beautifully.
Bubbly, affectionate, and friendly, Belle has been a lot of fun. She is playful and is always up for a game with other dogs. Belle loves people and has a talent for letting humans know what she needs. Like many corgis, Belle is chatty, and will talk to express her excitement or to let people know she needs assistance reaching something tall. Belle would thrive in a home where she can have mental stimulation and adventures. Belle would likely due just fine with a dog savvy cat; one that wouldn't be annoyed by puppy antics. We suspect Belle will be corgi sized full grown (under 30 pounds).
Because all puppies are eventually mouthy, we recommend only kids over 10 in Belle's home. Belle's relationship with the crate is improving and she is coming a long way with her potty training. Belle will need an adopter dedicated to continuing her training and socialization as well as one who will tolerate the bumps that go along with teenagerhood. All puppies need vaccines every 3 weeks until they are 16 weeks old; until that final vaccine they don't have enough immunity for dog parks and the like. But, Belle is old enough for puppy kindergarten and socialization groups.
$200 of Belle's adoption fee is refundable when she is spayed at 6-9 months old. Belle is up to date on her vaccines, has been dewormed, microchipped and is current on her flea and heartworm preventions.
We're hoping whoever adopts Belle will keep her so happy that she'll eventually forget about her dreams of being tall. Is it you? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
