7/7/2024 Update: Belize is again looking for her special place. She would like a home with another dog, preferably a larger dog like a Greyhound or Lurcher. :) No slippery floors for this girl. Even laminate floors with rugs are not to her liking! She has mastered doing carpeted stairs. Leash manners have improved and she enjoys daily walks, weather permitting. UPDATE: Beautiful Belize. The character, the sweet companion, the guardian (particularly from squirrels :)), the avid watcher of television. Belize is all this and a bag of chips besides! She will WARN you when a small critter is lurking in the yard or on the TV. She performs the sweetest happy dance when her foster mom arrives home. She sleeps with her mouth open emitting the quietest little snore. Mealtime is a cherished event. She watches TV with fascination daily, even while her foster mom is gone. She enjoys searching the backyard for whatever may be found with her foster sister. She loves just hanging out and being with her people. She will come to her person for a hug and a kiss before going to bed at night. Oh, and have we mentioned that Belize is a ballet star?! Note in her previous bio of her love of the stage while performing in Fort Wayne Ballet’s "The Nutcracker" this past December. She was quite the character and LOVED drawing attention from the audience!
Belize is patiently waiting for that special forever family who will take her into their hearts and home, appreciating the character she truly is. Due to her high interest in small critters, indoors and out, she would do best in a home without small pets of any kind. She continues to work on leash manners, which have improved. Leash pulling has lessoned with the use of a no-pull harness. Belize can be a little rambunctious when excited, so she would most likely do better with older children. That being said, she’s yet to meet a human she does not like! If you would appreciate some entertainment and antics in your life, come meet Belize. She truly is a gem!
(ORIGINAL) Belize! Pretty name for a pretty and fun girl. Belize loves to entertain and has kept her foster mom smiling. She is a fun, loving girl who is quite silly, including antics such as climbing in the bathtub or the walk-in shower, and watching the washing machine! :) She also loves to watch television, especially when animals are on the screen. Belize watched "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" in its entirety, never taking her eyes off the TV! She was also fortunate to perform in Fort Wayne Ballet's "The Nutcracker", where she was convinced that all the applause was just for her! Belize crates well and has very good house manners. She always does a happy dance when her foster mom comes home from her part-time job! She enjoys playing with stuffies and hard chew toys. Belize has been around small dogs and did well, however, she has shown way too much interest in cats. She may do better in a home with fewer dogs, as she likes to be the center of attention. If your location is outside of the 3-hour-radius, you have previous greyhound/sighthound experience and have the support of a local greyhound adoption group near you, we encourage you to apply with Greyt Angels to place an available hound in your home.
Greyt Angels will continue to place hounds with new greyhound owners within the 3-hour-radius; that will remain unchanged. We are excited about our radius expansion so that fellow greyhound owners can enjoy the company of the sighthound breed we all love and support.
