Meet Bee

Hi! My name is Bee. I am a little peanut of a girl and I love curling up in a ball and snoozing the day away. My foster parents think I'm just the cutest little girl ever! With some trust gained, I have learned that getting pets is pretty great and also learned it's ok to be in a crate while they are gone at work each day. I'm not quite comfortable enough yet to take treats from them, but I'm sure I'll get there with some time and patience. The other greyhounds in my foster home help me build up my confidence! My wish in my forever home is that there will be another dog around to show me guidance. New noises and sudden movements startle me, but with some reassurance, I do just fine. I am also a secret toy player; I won't play with them if my humans are around, but I love the squeakers! If you're interested in adopting me, and giving me the love and patience I need, please contact our adoption coordinators!

American Greyhound is a not-for-profit adoption group dedicated to finding homes for retired racing greyhounds. All adoption applications are thoroughly screened prior to approval. We request a $195.00 adoption donation, which helps defray the costs of providing spaying or neutering, bringing vaccinations up to date, having teeth cleaned if necessary, parasite check and treatment as indicated (although we cannot guarantee complete freedom from parasites). We provide a choice of safety collar and matching leash with each adoption, and offer discounted adoption donation requests on senior and special needs dogs.
When a hound has been designated as "likely cat/small animal tolerant" it means simply that the dog has passed a cat tolerance test administered at the track and may or may not have lived with a cat or small animal while in foster care. Passing this test is by no means a guarantee of future compatibility or behavior.
American Greyhound uses a network of volunteer foster homes where the dogs live in a family environment while they wait to be adopted. This helps each dog acclimate to living in a home where they learn about things like house manners, stairs, windows, other pets, etc. New foster families are always welcome and very much needed.
Please visit our website at www.americangreyhound.org to learn more about the wonderful dogs available, when and where they can be seen, and to print out an adoption or fostering application. We have new dogs coming in frequently, so be sure to check back often. And feel free to visit one of our adoption events to learn more about these sweet, gentle, noble creatures. The dogs love the attention and we enjoy talking about them.  At some events, we also offer reasonably priced dog related merchandise for sale to help raise revenue for veterinary expenses.
