Meet Beau Dacious

Beau Dacious is a 1.5 year old, Australian Cattle Dog. He had a rough start to life by being bounced around from home to home, abused, and locked in a kennel for much of his life. He is under socialized, which has lead to fear reactivity towards certain triggers, (men/other dogs). Beau has been successfully introduced to female staff members and female volunteers with slow introductions. He has been exposed to men, but it will take longer for him to warm up.
Beau is extremely sweet once he gets to know and trust you. He is very smart and knows many commands, such as sit, shake, stay, or lay down. Cattle Dogs are very active and he will need an active home that enriches his life. Beau has been introduced to one other dog successfully, it was an older female that minded her own business and did not want to dominate him.
We will be doing very thorough screening before adoption, as he will take a certain type of handler to assist him through the process of fear reactivity. He does have the potential to make a great companion with work and consistency.
