Meet Beau

Beau ~15-month-old male yellow Lab mix 35 lbs Not yet neutered

Background.
Beau is currently with a dog trainer in Dixon. Beau's previous owners found that he was not a good fit for their busy household and surrendered him to their dog trainer. Beau has received substantial training. He has some "stranger danger" -- especially towards men. Takes a while for Beau to warm up to people, but when he does, he is an absolute delight.

What Beau's trainer says.
It has been a pleasure watching Beau develop and grow over these last few months. When he first arrived, he had had very little exposure to the outside world and was terrified. Through careful training, socialization, and confidence building we have watched Beau mature into a much happier dog. He still needs patience and consistency but in the right home I am absolutely certain he will thrive.

He is very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He is nervous of new people and needs time to adjust but once he trusts you, you will have a friend for life. He's loving and affectionate with the people he knows but it is vital that he not be pushed into social situations that he is not ready to tackle. He loves going on walks or just hanging out at your side.

Beau is comfortable around cats and livestock.

Beau is a huge fan of other dogs and when he is with his canine friends you will absolutely see his personality blossom. He would do best in a home with a confident dog that can help ease his worries when unsure. The ideal home for Beau would be a quiet home without too many visitors. He is great on a leash and will walk right by your side, although he would be most comfortable in a less urban setting. He has not shown a ton of interest in toys.

What Beau's Rescue Rep says.
Beau is a wonderful dog, but he will require a calm quiet home with understanding and patient owners. Not ideal for a home with children due to his skittishness. Not a city dog either. Crate-trained and house-trained. DNA analysis reveals Beau is part Lab, part cocker spaniel, and a mix of other breeds. Clearly, he is on the small size when it comes to Labs. He is likely fully grown. Beau would best thrive in a home with another dog.

Medical.
In fine health. Current on Rabies and distemper vaccinations. Still needs to be neutered and microchipped.

Beau is located in: Dixon.
