UPDATE 2/1/24. Beanie what is adopted out to a wonderful local adult couple with three little chihuahua type dogs, all seniors and large parrots. Beanie has done wonderfully in their home and they are absolutely in love with her but she has just proven to be way too rough with the little dogs. She is a herding dog and she does "herd" the little dogs! Too much though and she has accidentally hurt a couple of them. She's not a mean dog at all, but she is a higher energy, more robust player than the little old dogs can tolerate. So reluctantly the couple has asked us to relist her up for adoption for a more suitable home with dogs more her activity level and size.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: BEANIE, SHORT FOR JUMPING BEAN, HAS SETTLED INTO HER FOSTER HOME. HER FOSTER MOM REPORTS THAT SHE IS EXTREMELY BONDED TO THE WOMAN OF THE HOUSE. SHE LIKES THE MAN TOO, BUT IS DEFINITELY A WOMAN'S DOG. SHE CURRENTLY LIVES WITH TWO OTHER STOCK DOGS AND A 16-YEAR-OLD PUG. SHE IS VERY GOOD WITH ALL THREE DOGS IN THE HOME. SHE IS NON-CONFRONTATIONAL AND NON-ALPHA. SHE IS RELIABLY HOUSEBROKEN AND CRATE TRAINED. SHE'S A VELCRO DOG AND FOLLOWS THE WOMAN OF THE HOUSE EVERYWHERE. SHE'S EXTREMELY BONDED HER IN A VERY SHORT TIME AND IS COMPLETELY TRUSTWORTHY OFF LEAD. SHE RIDES BEAUTIFULLY IN THE CAR LOVES TO GO BYE-BYE. SHE'S A QUIET GIRL AND ONLY BARKS APPROPRIATELY WHEN SOMEONE'S AT THE DOOR. SHE HAS AN EXTREMELY DEEP ROBUST BARK FOR SUCH A SMALL DOG. THIS COULD MAKE HER AN EXCELLENT WATCHDOG AS NOBODY WOULD KNOW THAT IT WASN'T A ROTTWEILER BEHIND THE DOOR! Her faster mom report. She thinks she could be good with children because she's not nippy and shows no herding tendencies. She also is showing no prey drive. She doesn't want to chase toys, balls or the other dogs so she will probably be fine with cats. She currently is so focused on her foster mom and what she's doing, she ignores the house cat at the neighbors when they go visiting. It is repeated that while out on a jog with her foster mom, Beanie did show protective behavior by growling at a man approaching her. When sushed she responded obediently, but kept her eye on him until he was passed and continued on her jog. She's a GOOD girl! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beanie is a very tiny micro or "pocket" stock dog mix, weighing in at 23#s. We think primarily Sheltie, due to her very pointy, longer nose. We are not sure what the secondary breed is, but it could be Cattle Dog. It's something very short-haired it could be some sort of a Rat Terrier or even Chihuahua! Her coloration is just fantastic, very flashy blue merle. She'll be a fun one to have a DNA test on. She weighs 23 lb at 6 months of age. She's very petite and high energy. She is sweet, fun and playful. She is a puppy and will need all the good basic training (we've begun this) to be great canine citizen. She will have at least 12 yrs of fun filled adventures with you!
