Meet Batman
Meet Batman, the lovable 31-pound bundle of joy who's ready to find his forever home! We know this 4-year-old Poodle/Dachshund mix may be on the hefty side, but that just means there's more of him to love. Batman’s previous owners might have been a bit too generous with the treats, but with the right family, he’s all set to embark on a healthy lifestyle. Batman is a devoted wannabe lap dog, eager to snuggle up and shower you with affection.
Batman is a sweet boy with a slight stubborn streak, but we see that as part of his charm. He knows what he likes—like staying in his cozy spot when he’s lounging—and who can blame him? Most of us don't like to be disturbed when we're resting either. If you try to move him there's a good chance he'll grumble, but that's all part of getting to know each other and we have no doubt in the right home you guys will work it all out! The use of doggy steps helps Batman confidently navigate the couch and bed, and it doesn't take long for him to make himself at home on both. He's not a huge fan of being picked up, though he’ll happily follow you around when he’s ready for some attention.... which is most the time! He's treat motivated (imagine that!) which will help with his training.
This adorable guy doesn’t shed, but he'll need some upkeep with grooming and brushing to keep him looking his best. Batman is housebroken and is good with doing his business outside. He hasn't been destructive in his foster home. If it's rainy or wet outside he's a bit of a diva who prefers a puppy pad to getting his paws wet but maybe you can work with him on that. He’s a fan of soft dog toys and gets along well with other dogs and cats, making him a wonderful companion for a calm, pet-friendly home. He came to us with his corgi pal Felicia and they can be adopted separately or together. Batman’s ideal home is one without kids, even occasional visits from grandkids stresses him out.
Batman is looking for a loving, cozy home where he can spend his days relax and chilling with his favorite humans. He likes a mix of sleeping in bed with his peeps and napping solo on his do bed. Lazy mornings are his favorite and he's not in a hurry to start the day. He's a definite couch potato at heart! If you’re ready to give Batman the love and care he deserves, keep reading to learn how you can bring this charming boy into your life!

To apply for adoption, please go to www.animalaidms.org/adopt and complete our online application. If your application is approved and you're a great fit for Batman, we will reply with a phone call. We may also reach out about other dogs in our rescue that are similar and/or another wonderful option for you.
Note: We need that actual application and not simply a Petfinder inquiry. And please be sure to include your full address.
Batman is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We conduct virtual meet and greets for out-of-town applicants and can provide for transport (fee added to cost of adoption) to many northeastern states using a trusted transport company we have worked with for years. At this time we are not able to transport into Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine or Rhode Island.
