Meet Banner
Meet BANNER (like Bruce Banner)
This handsome guy is 6 months old (approx date of birth early Feb) and currently 52lbs. Our BEST GUESS (no guarantee) is that he is a Hound/Shepherd mix, and we expect (though CANNOT GUARANTEE) that he will be a large-sized adult dog. True to Hound dog form, he can be quite communicative when he wants to get his point across.
Banner is fostered with other dogs (both larger and smaller than he) and dog-savvy kitties. He likes to play with other dog friends. He is most successful with dogs who have either a similar play style or who will tell him when he needs to take a break. He's also been doing well with the free-range chickens and, with maintenance training, could continue to be successful around them!
Like many puppies, Banner is still working on best behaviors and manners, but he has some great foster home direction and is learning the right choices for his puppy instincts. Because he's still learning & easily excited, right now, a home with older (13+) dog-savvy kids would be best.
Banner is his best puppy self when he's satisfied both physically and mentally. So a family to involve him in lots of great activities would be wonderful for his continued development. As he gets bigger/older, we think he'd make a great hiking and maybe even running partner.
Banner is an engaging pup who loves to train. He is super food-motivated; so that makes it quite easy to teach him things. He is also very smart - he catches on quickly and always seems up for new experiences. Check out some of his training videos on his SAL bio page!
Banner is crate trained and housebroken - he does need to be crated when left alone, because well he still can be a michevious pup.
As always, keep in mind that adopting a puppy is more than falling in love with a picture. Along with lots of love, Banner (like all pups) will need leadership from his humans and continued training to allow him to become a good canine citizen. Again Banner will thrive in a home that will continue to involve him in day-to-day activities, participate in continued training to further his skills/good behaviors, and offer him engaging activities both physically and mentally.
Banner is microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines, dewormed, & current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.

(Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email (So, please check your SPAM.) Our process is straightforward but involves an interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450, and a $35 refundable spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply.
YOU CANNOT MEET THE Banner UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT. WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants. Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie County.
Thank you for your interest in Banner!
