BamBam
Maltese - Male
10 years old, 8 lbs.
Adoption fee $400
Neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines,
Heart worm negative & on prevention

Bam Bam is a cute Maltese boy FULL of personality. He estimated to be 10
or a bit older. He was left at a shelter because he was sick, the shelter immediately released him to the rescue. Our vet was not optimistic about his future, his bloodwork & liver panel was “off the charts.” After a course of antibiotics, 30 days later, all of the values were not only improved, they were all within the normal range. No one was shocked more than the doctors who cared for him. He is
completely healthy now and has thrived with love and attention.

BamBam had his right eye removed, it was damaged from neglect and medical care was not going to make it better. According to the eye specialist, vision in the other eye is nil. This is the result of genetics, an old injury and/or an untreated infection. He is comfortable and his condition is stable.

He manages without difficulty in his foster home. At first, he was quite needy. He would not walk down the hall alone and if he realized he was alone in a room, he would bark until he was “rescued”. In fact, his foster dad used to refer to dog beds as “Bam traps”, because once you plopped him down in one, he didn’t feel comfortable leaving it. But no more!

This clever little guy will follow your voice. If you place him outside to do his business. He barks to let you know that he’s done. If you call, “Bam Bam Bam” or clap your hands, he will follow the sound until he’s within a foot of you. If you then touch him, he will execute a cute little turn, and will back up to you, then make a little hop to facilitate your picking him up.

In the house, he will simply, “Bamble” around. He will gently bump into walls or other obstructions and he just takes this as his cue to move in a different direction. He doesn’t even let the lip of the dog gate to the kitchen stop him. He knows that’s where the food’s at!

And this guy LOVES TO WALK. Just leash him up like any other dog, walk in front of him, and hold a little bit of tension on the leash and he follows like a champ. His foster grandpa even reminds him to “look both ways”, when crossing the street.

He’s also a fan of the dog park. You can just let him “bamble” around or have him follow your voice. Just be careful to pick him up if some of the other dogs start chasing each other. He doesn’t know to get out of the way and often they can’t alter their route last minute to avoid him.

BamBam will do best in a home with 1 adult or a couple without children. He likes to be the center of attention and can be a bit of a diva on occasion. He has lived with other dogs and cats, but he prefers to pretend that they don’t exist and growls when one bumps into him and he’s reminded. Bam will let you know when he is displeased with a little growl. But it’s a bluff. He’s just letting you know that he’s uncomfortable. It used to take him some time to warm up to people. But within the last several months he has taken to approaching strangers at the dog park and “begging” to be picked up. It’s even happened occasionally at our monthly meetups.

If snuggling was an Olympic Event, Bam would be the Michael Phelps of snuggling. He is the perfect companion for sitting on the couch reading or watching TV.

BamBam is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccinations and heartworm negative and on a preventative. He is crate trained and takes all of his meals in his crate. He can sleep there, but much prefers sleeping with his foster humans.

BamBam was described as a “train wreck” when he entered rescue. He is healthy now and is ready to be adopted by someone who appreciates him for the tough little survivor he is. Lil Paws saved his life, but it should not be his forever home. After a rough start where he was medically neglected he wants to live out his remaining years with his special person/s. Our job now is to place him where he will be treated like the little prince he already knows he is. BamBam is looking for a forever lap.

** Please note: Due to their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5..

We do not have a facility; all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at www.lilpaws.org and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process.

Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!

Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it, please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
