Bailey #819 was dealt a short hand when he was fallen on by a climbing toddler. In surprise, he reacted, which resulted in his being surrendered. MNBR believes in second chances and Bailey’s proven that he deserves one.

At five years old, Bailey knows the drill. He’s housetrained, crate trained, walks on a leash, and is a stair pro. He doesn’t like getting caught in the rain but perhaps could be bribed if snuggling and pina coladas were involved. He also doesn’t like car rides, but that just means he’ll be even happier to see you when you get home.

Bailey knows not all kids are clumsy, and he’s enjoyed sitting with older (7+) children. He’s also very playful. His favorite game is tag with humans—and he’s “it”! He’s a fraidy cat when it comes to, well, cats, and overly friendly dogs, but he has shown that he can hang with some chill older female bassets, so hope is not lost! We accept applications from within the following areas: all of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and other applicants within a 6 ½ hour radius of our headquarters in St. Paul, MN.

Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue based in Minnesota. MNBR rehomes dogs from owners who can no longer provide their care and rescues dogs from local pounds and shelters. As an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue we welcome anyone who loves dogs and wishes to help hounds live a healthy and happy life. Our organization provides safe, loving foster home, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities while working hard to find them a permanent, loving home!
